This band is criminally underlooked - why they haven't been paid any attention I don't know, probably because they're from Belarus and most Americans don't know Belarus exists, most western Europeans don't give a fuck about Belarus and/or don't think any good metal could possibly come from it. Anyway, this album is amazing and they deserve way more recognition than they're getting.
Favorite track: Adal (Viecier nad Kryŭjaj hałosić...).

Écouter un album de black metal dépressif est un acte volontaire qui ne relève pas du hasard : on passe un pacte avec l'artiste et on accepte même l'idée que ce soit une expérience ultime. Drawn to Descend, deuxième album de Ov Hollowness, refuse ce système d'accord : s'il porte ce nom, c'est parce qu'avec l'introduction de riffs thrash metal, des mélodies catchy et parfois du chant clair, le black metal de ce one-man band nous attrape par le col et on a même envie d'y retourner une fois fini !

De l'action de descendre sciemment vers le néant au constat simple, lancé dans un dernier soupir, comme si on était mis devant le fait accompli : There is no beauty left here... Mais contre toute attente, ce chant du cygne d'Exiled from Light n'est pas une acceptation résignée de la mort. Mort (je parle de l'artiste) est animé de l'énergie du désespoir, cette énergie qui fait accomplir des choses extraordinaires quand tout est perdu et ça rend son DSBM très beau, paradoxalement. Indispensable !!

Certains vont bondir à l'idée de "rafraîchir" le black metal dépressif mais c'est bien à cette tâche que se consacre Funeral Fornication dans Solitude and Suicide. Les mélodies lancinantes tournent en boucle ("Channeling Volatile Energy"), Vultyrous hurle son désespoir à s'en déchirer les cordes vocales et la production est distante. Mais c'est surtout par les synthés qu'il surprend car ils sont très dramatiques voire théâtraux, ils nous attirent dans la tourmente comme le chant des sirènes...
